Frequently Asked Questions

Psychotherapy is a set of scientific evidence-based techniques used for the treatment of remediation of certain disorders. Counselling is a term applied for the usage of talk-based vehicle/form of providing the treatment and more often used in a colloquial sense of explanation.

A meeting with a mental health professional such as myself, is called a session. A session with me is of 45 to 60 mins duration. 

• Kindly keep any relevant medical/psychological records of the child/patient handy during the session. 
• Please make a list of the concerns if it helps to bring clarity in the session. 
• Please dress appropriately such as a formal situation. 
• Please do not lie down on the bed while taking the session. Only exemption are patients who are unable to sit  straight.

If you need more time with me, kindly let me know in advance. I shall accommodate the same. The charges slightly additional will be levied to the original session.

If more than 30 mins is taken for the extended meeting, then one more consultation charges of Rs 1700 will be charged. 

A marital or couples session is for 90 to 120 mins duration. Please book two slots and plan your day accordingly.

Kindly book a slot and use the same to discuss, explain and clarify issues at hand. It is not ethical to hear your concerns casually on a phone call. Please oblige.

• Once you book a slot, I get an confirmation on the same. 
• Next if you are seeing me for the first time, I have a consent form that requires your reading and signature. It is available here: https://iyerkamlam.com/how-to-contact
• Use parent consent form for children and adolescents below the age of 18 years. 
• Use adult consent form for individual adults seeking consultation.
• Send all consent forms duly signed to the address drkamlam@outlook.com

The charges are Rs 1700 for each session. Please note to remit the same on the UPI number that would be provided once the consent forms are sent.

I request payment once the session is completed. You can remit the same using the UPI address/number which will be sent to your personal mail address.

A Google meeting link will be provided once the booking is done and the one-time consent forms signed and sent. The link to join will be sent to the mail address that is used to send the consent forms to me.

Alternatively drop a mail to drkamlam@outlook.com in advance of 24 hours to accommodate somebody else in your slot.

If cancellation is done atleast 24 hours in advance, there are no cancellation charges. If cancellation is done less than 24 hours, I will have to request a charge of Rs 600 towards my compensation.

Yes, a receipt towards your amount will be sent to your mail address or Watsapp number once the session is completed.
